Notes from the Winemaker:
Our flagship expression is a free-spirited and full-bodied Cab that leaps out of the bottle with unbridled notes of wild cherry balanced by hints of toasted oak and warm spice.
The 2022 Vintage:
Above average winter rains saturated the soil and set the stage for a near-perfect growing season. The ample green growth necessitated canopy management to keep the vines open to the sun and promote wind flow. The grapes ripened slowly and evenly due to a mild spring and somewhat cooler summer temperatures, with no prolonged heat spells. Overall, the summer was temperate and even. This extended the growing season allowed more hangtime and kept the vines in optimal growing conditions, rather than having to shut down due to the heat. All and all, it went pretty smooth in regards to Cab.
The wine features dark cherry and dark plum aromas with hints of vanilla bean, Caramel and warm spice. Full bodied wine with sweet black fruit flavors, toasted oak, coconut and a hint of dried sweet tobacco. It has fine tannins and a pleasant astringency.
The finish is long and smooth.
