About this Wine:
Viñedo Chadwick is a tribute to Don Alfonso Chadwick that showcases the tradition and expertise of the Chadwick family in producing fine wines. The vineyard, originally his personal polo field, is considered the cradle of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon in Chile. Located in Puente Alto D.O. Maipo Valley, Viñedo Chadwick made history at the legendary ‘Berlin Tasting’ in January 2004, in which Viñedo Chadwick 2000 was placed first, above the Super Tuscans from Italy, and the First Growth wines from Bordeaux of that vintage.

Vintage Notes:
Following the excellent 2014 vintage, 2015 was an ideal growing season for Viñedo Chadwick. Bud-break began on September 29 and was followed by a warm spring, resulting in a healthy flowering and fruit set, presaging the likelihood of small, concentrated berries. February was slightly cooler than average, but March was slightly warmer. Reacting quickly and decisively to the increase in temperatures and the impact it was having on acidity levels in the fruit, the team began precise, block-by-block harvesting on March 21, finishing nine days later.

Varietal Composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Ratings & Reviews:

99 Points - James Suckling:
"Very deep and primary fruit character to this red gives the wine amazing length and focus. It seems to go on forever. Full body yet vivid and energetic. Tannic and muscular yet so polished and refined. Drink now." - (August 2019)

98 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"If the 2014 meant a tremendous change in terms of style towards fresher fruit, this 2015 feels like a revolution. The harvest was completed in March, ensuring vibrant, tight fruit in a rather warm year. 25% was aged in used oak and 15% in foudres, which has supported the fruit´s clarity, freshness and tension. Until this 2015 we didn’t know that Alto Maipo could offer this level of liveliness and elegance. A true surprise." Drink 2018-2030 - Patricio Tapia (December 2017)

97 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Vinedo Chadwick Vineyard, aged 22 months in 73% new French oak (15% was in foudre), the 2015 Vinedo Chadwick is an incredible effort that has both elegance and richness. Notes of crème de cassis, graphite, wet stone-like minerality, and plenty of leafy herb characteristics all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, seamless, gorgeously polished red. It’s already drinking nicely yet should cruise in the cellar for 10-15 years." Maturity 2018-2028 - Jeb Dunnuck (March 2018)

95 Points - Wine Advocate:
"I also tasted the 2015 Viñedo Chadwick from a warm and dry vintage that resulted in very healthy grapes that were picked earlier than ever. The parameters are remarkably similar to the 2014, and the winemaking and élevage were also virtually the same, fermentation in stainless steel and aging in French barriques (73% new) and with some 15% matured in a Stockinger oak foudre. As I saw in many other 2015s, this is the most elegant and refined vintage I have seen of this wine. With ultra-refined tannin, the wine is dry, very clean, not minty at all, with very good tension and length, with a chalky, tasty, almost salty finish. Of course, the classical notes of cedar wood, black peppercorns and tobacco are there, but in a very subtle way. Super elegant. 11,493 bottles were filled in February 2017." Drink 2017-2027 - Luis Gutiérrez (April 2017)

93 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2015 Viñedo Chadwick is a pure Cabernet Sauvignon from a textbook year in Puente Alto, with several peaks in temperature and a slow-ripening end to the season. The wine aged for 22 months in French barrels and 15% in foudres. . It is garnet red with a ruby sheen in the glass. The nose is herbal and intense with precise red fruit flavors of sour cherry, blackcurrant and hints of blueberry, all framed by the oak. In the mouth, it is medium bodied with an ethereal flow and well-defined flavor channeled by the refined tannins. The precision and energy go up a notch toward the end, leading in to the lengthy finish." Drink 2022 - Joaquín Hidalgo (March 2022)
