Notes from the Winemaker:
Deep, black cherry color. Aromas of red fruit embodied with toffee oaky hints from the aging in French barrel revealing a sweety and fruity wine on the mouth. Reminiscences of ripen fruit and liquorice. It offers a pleasant and soft aftertaste.
VINEYARD: It comes from 64 hectares of owns vineyards located in the state of Finca Villacreces.
GRAPE VARIETIES: 90% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
AGING: 12 months in 3-year-old French barrels (Darnajou and Taransaud).
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - James Suckling:
"Aromas and flavors of blueberries and black licorice here. Full body. Integrated tannins give the wine form, but don’t impose too much. Better in 2021." - (30 Jun, 2019)
92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"From sandy, chalky soils, (these grapes previously went into Flor de Pingus), the 2017 Pruno is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 12 months in used barrels. It offers loads of blackberries, black raspberries, toasted spice, and hints of oak as well as some graphite in a ripe, concentrated yet pure style. It’s a beautiful wine, developing a touch of minerality with time in the glass, and has both richness and freshness." - Jeb Dunnuck (4/3/2019)
Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Toasty and smoky notes frame black cherry, currant, licorice and orange peel flavors in this firm red. The tannins are a bit obtrusive, but lively acidity gives this balance. Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2020 through 2030. 50,000 cases made, 5,000 cases imported." - TM (Region Spain)
