About the Winery:
Located in the heart of the Langhe hills, at the top of the village of Castiglione Falletto, the Vietti wine cellar was founded in the late 1800s by Carlo Vietti. Alfredo Currado married Luciana Vietti and is largely responsible for the resurrection of the Arneis grape. Today the estate is led by Luca Currado Vietti and his wife Elena.

In 2016 the historic winery was acquired by Krause Holdings, enabling Luca and Elena Currado, the fourth generation in charge of the Vietti brand, to add a number of prized crus to the estate’s holdings, all while maintaining the family approach for which the cellar has always been known.

Grapes: 100% Arneis

Alcohol: 13.5%

Winemaking:
The grapes are selected from vineyards located in the middle of the Roero area, in Santo Stefano Roero. The vineyards are approximately 30 years old and are planted with 4.500-5.000 vines per hectare. Harvest starts around mid-September and the grapes are first pressed and then clarified. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel autoclave at lower temperature (10-12°C, 50-53° F) to preserve some natural CO2 from the fermentation. Wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation to preserve acidity and freshness. The wine is held in stainless steel tanks on fine lees until just before bottling.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw yellow color with fresh floral, citrus and melon aromas with hints of almond. An unoaked, dry, medium bodied white wine with crisp acidity, the Arneis is well-balanced, elegant wine with good complexity and a lingering finish. Perfect as an aperitif with light hors d’oeuvres, crudités, seafood, salads, light soups, simply prepared veal, pork, chicken and creamy cheese.

Food Pairing: Tartare, fresh cold-cuts, warm and cold appetizers, first courses with strong flavours and white meat dishes. After a few years in the bottle, this wine is perfect with seasoned cheese.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:

A pale silver color, the 2024 Roero Arneis opens to lifted notes of fresh chives, pear, melon rind, lime zest, and white pepper. Springy and fresh, the palate is dewy and inviting, with a mid-weight feel and a delicate note of fresh pear lasting on the finish. It’s a refreshing wine with a lot of versatility to enjoy over the spring and summer seasons and is perfect to serve with fresh salads and chilled seafood. Drink over the next couple of years. (AF)
