About the Artist:
United by sunlit optimism and a shared vision of artisanal excellence, Veuve Clicquot and designer Simon Porte Jacquemus reveal a joyful, poetic take on La Grande Dame 2018, the Maison’s prestige cuvée. The collaboration unites two creative universes deeply rooted in their respective identities, celebrating the poetry of simple gestures, and the timeless beauty of craftsmanship. The emblematic Veuve Clicquot yellow radiates the colour of the sun, while Simon Porte Jacquemus remains eternally inspired by his solar Southern French roots.

"This limited edition of La Grande Dame 2018 is the outcome of simple materials, meaningful gestures, and strong women's stories, yet it is ultimately a celebration of - and for - optimistic and memorable moments." - Simon Porte Jacquemus

About the Wine:
La Grande Dame, is a showcase of the House’s excellence. It perfectly expresses its love for Pinot Noir, which since the 2008 vintage, has represented over 90% of the blend. The responsibility that lies on the shoulders of the Cellar Master is to glorify this grape and strike the right balance so that it expresses itself through its refined, elegant, light, delicate, yet powerful character, with firmness, extreme subtlety and a certain restraint. It is a tribute to Madame Clicquot and to the creative and elegant souls who have followed in her footsteps. A wine to reflect the image of La Grande Dame herself. Madame Clicquot used her determination, intuition and vision to choose and acquire exceptional parcels in the villages Bouzy, Verzenay and Verzy, all of which would later go on to obtain the prestigious Grand Cru classification.

La Grande Dame 2018 blend is made mainly from grapes from historical Grands Crus vineyards, among the most prestigious in Champagne. Pinot Noir dominates the blend at 90%, magnified by 10% Chardonnay, with grapes from Aÿ, Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy. The 10% Chardonnay comes from the Grands Crus Avize and Mesnil-sur-Oger.

Ratings & Reviews

97 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"The long sunny days and warmth of the 2018 vintage has provided glowing stone and citrus fruit to this glorious Grande Dame. While the initial attack plays on various riffs of lemon oil, verbena, orange rind and grapefruit, it's the deeply mineral and tightly wound core that surprises most with this wine, and this is what will ensure its long-term ageing potential. Delectable candied orange rind builds to a crescendo of yuzu and coconut cream. A luminous and energetic iteration of La Grande Dame." - Natalie Earl (Apr 2025)

95 Points - Wine Spectator:
"This finely detailed Champagne teases the palate with pinprick-sized bubbles and lightly mouthwatering acidity, a harmonious frame for flavors of patisserie pear and cherry fruit, pickled ginger, almond biscotti and spun honey. This is subtle at first but expands beautifully on the palate, and the long, minerally finish echoes smoke and oyster shell notes. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged February 2024. Drink now through 2040." - Alison Napjus (Dec 2025)

94 Points - James Suckling:
"A lovely perfume of subtle cooked apples, heather, jasmine and flint follows through to a medium body with a dense palate of fruit. Hints of pears and lychees with some honey and a touch of marzipan. A blend of 90% pinot noir and 10% chardonnay. Drink or hold."  (Jul 2025)

94 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2018 La Grande Dame is a very pretty wine that shows the contemporary style that is prevalent here these days. Floral overtones lift a core of citrus fruit, while marzipan, anise, mint, dried pear and spice open with a bit of coaxing. The 2018 is a delicate Grand Dame, as most Champagnes are in a vintage in which yields were exceptionally high. I especially admire the finesse here. Disgorged: September 2024. (Drink between 2026-2048)." - Antonio Galloni (Apr 2025)
