Txomin Etxaniz Txakolina Blanco 2025
(Basque Country, Spain) - [JD 92] [JS 91]

Winemaker Notes:
Made up almost entirely of Hondarrabi Zuri, with the remaining Hondarrabi Beltza, the grapes come from Ametz Mendi and a handful of other historic vineyards within Getaria of Getariako Txakolina DO. The vines were planted from 1915 to 2000 upon beds of sandy, chalky loam. The winery sorts and selects for the healthiest grapes. Following a cold maceration, the grapes are destemmed and pressed in a closed pneumatic press. The fermentation is done by selected indigenous yeast and is maintained at very low temperatures to retain some dissolved CO2. The wine ages for six months in stainless steel sur lie before bottling.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2025 Blanco is a classic bottling of 85% Hondarrabi Zuri and the rest Hondarrabi Beltza. The family has been here since 1649 in the historical harbor, currently sourcing pergola vines planted more than 100 years ago. Black and white grapes are used in both of its wines, leading to a crisp, salty white wine with balanced acidity and low alcohol that tastes of lemony green apple, leaving 6.5 grams per liter residual sugar to balance the acid and leaving all on the lees before bottling, a creamy, medium-bodied midpalate the result. Drink now." (Aug 2026)

91 Points - James Suckling:
"Limes, green apples and brine. The medium-bodied palate is incisive and saline with subtle phenolics. Very refreshing. Drink now." (Jun 2026)
