Notes from the Winemaker:
The tropical fruit flavor of guava and papaya are derived from our Oakville and Calistoga estate vineyards, while fresh, crisp minerality is a classic Sonoma County expression of the grape.
In the cellar, we keep each Sauvignon Blanc vineyard lot separate and use a variety of fermentation vessels—from stainless steel barrels to concrete eggs and neutral oak—to add depth and richness to the wine. When these unique lots are blended together, the result is a complex and nuanced Sauvignon Blanc that delights the palate.

Tasting Notes
This 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is a true reflection of the balanced and steady season, showcasing a broad array of aromas from white peach to chamomile and lemon zest. The palate is full with a creamy, supple texture accented by a fresh thread of acidity that builds from the mid-palate and adds a lifted, lively note to the persistent finish.
Vintage:
Several atmospheric rivers brought a welcome departure from recent drought years, and the dormant winter months were both cold and wet. Rainfall continued into early spring and fully saturated the soils. This rainy and cool start set the stage for delayed phenological stages throughout the season. After a mild spring, summer started out cooler than typical, but a few warm periods helped the growth and ripening curve progress slowly and steadily. On average, our estate Sauvignon Blanc ranches were two to three weeks later than recent vintages. The plentiful early season rains allowed for strong, balanced canopies and larger than typical yields that fully ripened through the
long, slow season. The harvest began on August 28 with our Calistoga Estate Vineyard and wrapped up in early October with our Merino Estate Vineyard.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - James Suckling:
"Great freshness, with white peaches, citrus zest and some chalky, mineral effects on a medium to full body. Offers vivid acidity, bold fruit flavors and good balance. Fermented in a combo of small barrels, big puncheons, stainless steel drums and tanks. Made from four sites in both counties for built-in complexity. Drink now." (Jul 2024)
92 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Super bright and fresh, with tropical fruit notes leading the way, intermixed with pops of bright citrus fruit. Round and silky fruit on the palate is redolent of white peach, guava, and green papaya, all of which build with a lovely richness balanced by a fantastic thread of saline-minerality and lime citrus on the finish, along with a burst of spring flowers. Incredibly food-friendly." - Jonathan Cristaldi (Apr 2024)
Jeb Dunnuck:
"Pouring a bright silver/straw color, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc was raised in barrels, stainless steel, and concrete tanks and is bottled under screwcap. In the glass, it reveals tropical aromas of papaya, grapefruit, ripe peaches, and chive. Medium-bodied and potent on the palate, with a good deal of intensity and richness, it's going to show its best over the next couple of years. 10,000 case production. (Drink between 2024-2026)." - Audrey Frick (Jun 2024)
