A succulent wine with aromas of lavender, cranberries and minty floral Asian spice. This is textbook Cabernet Sauvignon and highlights how well McLaren Vale is situated to growing it.

Color:
Deep dark garnet red with a black core.

Aroma
Notes of redcurrant, tobacco, bay leaf, juniper, fresh earth and mulberry.

Palate
Fresh and lively through the entry with plenty of bright red fruits and energy. Tannins begin rounded and broad, then tighten through the finish providing a gentle savoury quality and considerable length. The acid profile is very bright and fresh. The palate is complimented with notes of redcurrants, mulberry, and juniper. Depth and layers are found in the form of bay leaf and dried herbs whilst the palate touches on notes of tobacco, earth and ash.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"From the cooler McLaren Vale (when compared to the Barossa), the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Sexy Beast sports a saturated purple color as well as a beautiful perfume of blue fruits, menthol, incense, and spring flowers. It's juicy, medium-bodied, and elegant on the palate, with a fresh, focused texture. It's a sexy little wine to drink over the coming 4-5 years." - Jeb Dunnuck (12/13/2018)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The classically styled 2017 Sexy Beast Cabernet Sauvignon features hints of mint and cocoa on the nose, alongside cassis and baking spices. It's medium to full-bodied, with a certain amount of varietal reserve, meaning it doesn't completely fill the mouth or coat the palate like Shiraz but shows a crisp, linear and well-defined finish." - Joe Czerwinski (31st Aug 2018)

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This medium-weight wine expresses lots of varietal character. Cab lovers will dig the savory, herbal, pencil lead and vanilla tones that weave into red fruit and florals. Sandy textured tannins hold the fruit, warm stone and earthy flavors together, and things finish on an herbal touch. The oak rears its head a little on the finish." -  Christina Pickard (8/1/2019)

Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Juicy, vivid blackberry and blueberry flavors have an appealing juicy side in this red, with plenty of herb and fresh earth notes and a good dash of Kalamata olive detail. Fresh, with tight tannins on the finish, but plenty of verve. Drink now through 2030. 10,000 cases made, 5,000 cases imported." - MW (Feb 2019)
