Notes from the Winemaker:
Continuing the string of great vintages, 2014 completes the trifecta of extremely high quality growing seasons. The 2014s exhibit a great purity of place, with generous fruit and elegant textures The 2014 shows the purity and excellence of our Cabernet Sauvignon. Subtle and energetic plum and currant aromas follow through to a gorgeously harmonized palate of wonderful fruit and ultra long finish.

Vintage Notes
California vintners and growers across the state are grateful for another excellent vintage, despite an ongoing drought and earthquake that rocked south Napa in late August just as crush was getting underway. A mild winter and spring caused early bud break, although the overall length of the growing season was similar to past years. A compacted harvest began in July for sparkling wines and started winding down by mid-October for later ripening varieties. Moderate temperatures, with only minimal rain in September, allowed for even ripening.

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - James Suckling:
"Love the black currant, slate, violet and lilac aromas. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a wonderful finish. This is polished and linear. Beautiful backbone through the center palate. Almost all cabernet sauvignon makes this fantastic. Drink or hold." (5/23/2017)

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast:

"This is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, made by Bordeaux winemakers Gonzague and Claire Lurton from their Chalk Hill property as well as other sites around the county. Leathery and earthy at its core, it's possessed of a soft grip of cassis and violet, structured and smooth on the palate with a light touch to the ripeness." - Virginie Boone (3/1/2018)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2014 Trinite Estate Acaibo is made up of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. It has a medium to deep ruby-purple color and a youthful veneer of oak spice: vanilla bean, cedar, nutmeg and cardamom over notions of iron, blackcurrants, dark chocolate, dried herbs and beef drippings. It's medium to full-bodied, dark fruited and minerally, still with a fair amount of oak presence in the mouth. It has very firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long." - Erin Brooks (12/19/2019)
