About the Winery:
With 494 acres of privately owned vineyards in the best sites of the Avellino province, Terredora di Paolo is one of the largest wineries in southern Italy. Since its establishment in 1978, Terredora di Paolo has focused on rediscovering and restoring Campania’s ancient and native varietals such as Aglianico, Fiano, Greco and Falanghina. These varietals are key players that have brought about Campanian’s wine renaissance.
About the Wine:
Lacryma Christi wines are made in white, red and rosé versions. There are several legends surrounding the origins of the name Lacryma Christi and how it was applied to the wines of Mount Vesuvius. The popular legend is that the Archangel Lucifer, cast from Heaven, desperately grabbed a piece of it with his fingernails as he fell and placed it on earth near the Gulf of Naples. Noticing the loss, the Lord wept, and where each of his tears fell the first vines grew on Earth.

Ratings & Reviews
89 Points - Wine Advocate:
"This is a pretty, easy-drinking red with plenty of dark volcanic character along with blackcurrant, lavender bud, white pepper and campfire ash. The Terredora di Paolo 2020 Lacryma Christi Vesuvio Rosso is a mid-weight wine with fine, dusty tannins that are well integrated (after a brief six to eight months in oak). The wine is true to the grape with a fresh, food-friendly disposition. Production is 6,000 bottles." - Monica Larner (Oct 2022)
