About This Wine:
Bottles of Campaccio’s cellar reserve version are graced by seals in authentic red laquer that take the place of labels. The blend is 50% Sangiovese & 50% Cabernet Sauvignon from 7 clones of the two varieties (the grapes’ provenance is itself 50% from Chianti Classico and 50% from Maremma) and particularly small crop yields (1.6 kilos per vine, 3.5 pounds). Ageing is 2 years in barriques of French and American oak and 1 year in bottle previous to release. Deep ruby in color with subtle garnet reflections, the bouquet is ample and intense, recalling red fruit interlaced with notes of licorice, vanilla and toasted coffee; unbelievable richness & complexity on the palate. Textured, lingering sensation of plenitude & volume; silky tannins with a succulent, luscious finish.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - James Suckling:
"A vivid and bright 2013 with deep aromas of blackberries and blueberries that turn into fresh mushrooms. Medium to full body with firm and velvety tannins, which are delicious with the fruit at the end of the palate. Drink now." - 12 Jul, 2018

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"I am a little confused by the Campaccio philosophy, as I am seeing a Collezione, Selezione and Riserva di Cantina version of the same blend (Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) across various vintages. Of these various wines, the 2013 Campaccio Collezione shows the most abundant and well-defined primary fruit. That's obvious given the fact this is the youngest of this higher-priced series. The 2013 vintage, characterized by a cool and long growing season, also plays an important role in that exacting focus and sharpness. The wine rides over the palate with full waves of generous fruit intensity. Some 25,000 bottles were made." - Monica Larner (31st Oct 2018)

93 Points - Vinous:

"The 2013 Campaccio Collezione is powerful and explosive, not to mention absolutely delicious. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, grilled herbs, leather, spice and menthol build in a heady, beautifully resonant wine. The Collezione is 40% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. International varieties play a more significant role in the Collezione than they do in the straight Campaccio, and it comes through in the wine's dark fruit profile and structural feel." Antonio Galloni - (Feb 2019)

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:

"Leans toward the exotic side, with raspberry jam, boysenberry, vanilla, toast and tobacco flavors. Ripe and flamboyant, yet with serious structure underneath. Fine length. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2024. 2,000 cases made, 750 cases imported." - BS (Issue Oct 15, 2018)
