Notes from the Winemaker:
Tamber Bey's estate - grown Dijon Clone Chardonnay is a unique wine for Napa. This Chardonnay has a Burgandian feel as the French Dijon clone brings a wonderful mid - pallet sense of fruit, but leaves out the oak and butter (characteristic of traditional Napa Chardonnays). This old block of Chardonnay just keeps giving us the amazing fruit.
Winemaker Notes:
This wine is all about what makes our Deux Chevaux Vineyard Chardonnay so special. This wine delivers a very rich nose that mixes honeydew melon, ripe pineapple, honey, sweet oak and butterscotch. It possesses a classic Napa Valley barrel - fermented Chardonnay mouth that is rich and unctuous. The flavor profile delivers honeydew and pineapple, with added hints of vanilla custard, orange marmalade, floral notes and roasted chestnut. The wine has a strong finish of butterscotch due to malolactic fermentation.
Production Notes:
Cooperage: Cadus and Damy
Time in Oak: 17 Months
New Oak: 32%
Production: 593 cases
90 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Creamy-textured, with jazzy, smoky, toasty oak and a core of white peach and honeydew flavors. This is elegant, graceful, long, full and complete. Ends with a toasted marshmallow edge. Drink now. 593 cases made." – JL (May 31, 2016)
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"An oily, rich and full-figured white from the producer's estate vineyard, this wine offers elements of honey-baked apple and caramel. Well made in a big style, it's listed as 100% from the Dijon clone of Chardonnay." - Virginie Boone (2/1/2016)
