Notes from the Winemaker:
Nestled in a modest and beautiful valley in Arroyo Grande, our Grenache vines often see cold, brisk days with constant, salty winds from the Pacific Ocean. Like many vines in the Rincon Vineyard, they endure some extreme growing conditions and these vines make us wait. Every sunny day is needed to achieve ripeness and our Grenache grapes are always some of the last we harvest each season.
But, as they say, good things take time. This is true of the 2022 Grenache with a mouthwatering and zingy finish that delivers notes of pomegranate and cardamom.
Ratings & Reviews
94 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Pure elegance, the Grenache from San Luis Obispo Coast's Talley Vineyards is floral and fresh. From the estate Rincon Vineyard, the variety ripens, but only just. Leading to a wine of delicate freshness. If Burgundy grew Grenache, this is it. Aromas of rose petals and lavender imbue this wine with an earnest, lithe, and delicate character. Tart cranberry and blood orange notes are lifted from the glass with mint and bright, savoury elements. The palate is spry, dancing brightly on notes of textured raspberry and green tea leaves, dusty gravel minerality, and brightened by savoury suggestions of rose hips and wild anise." - Clive Pursehouse (Apr 2024)
92 Points - James Suckling:
"A generous, easy-sipping red that feels medium in body and is packed with strawberries, red cherries and light baking spices. Broad in texture, light in tannins, nicely balanced in acidity. Drinks almost like a pinot noir. Drink now." (Aug 2024)
91 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Lots of framboise, rose petals, and peppery herbal notes emerge from the 2022 Grenache, a pretty, medium-bodied, beautifully balanced Grenache that clearly has a Pinot Noir-like influence in its supple, elegant style. It's going to drink beautifully for 7-8 years." (Aug 2024)
