About This Wine:
We always say that this wine "is like a bit of earth in a glass." And it's true. In the Monte Carbonare vineyard the vines sink their roots deep down into the black earth; pure volcano. This gives the wine personality: forthright and truthful, with a sharp mineral nature. It tastes of rain on flint, on the black stones of the dry walls, and of that good fragrance that the countryside releases when dampened by the first rain.

About the Vineyard:
It covers an area of 6 hectares facing north-east and north-west within the u.g.a. Carbonare at an altitude of 280 meters.
The area is characterized by deep volcanic soils with a clayey texture which have a particularly dark color (black basalts) reminiscent of coal, and the toponym "Carbonare" seems to derive from this characteristic.
Here the Garganega vines, planted with the traditional “pergola veronese” training system, reach an average age of about 60 years.

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - James Suckling:
A serious and very precise Soave with subtle citrus aromas and notes of orange blossoms, hay and crushed stones. Fine-tuned and focused, with a medium body and fine texture. Tangy and tense with a gentle phenolic touch and hints of lemon peel and ginger at the end. 100% garganega. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2021 Vintage):
There's a broad feel to the well-meshed flavors of yellow apple, persimmon, pink grapefruit sorbet and blanched almond on display in this elegant white. At the same time, this bright version is trimmed nicely by well-cut acidity, with a crackle of sea salt–like salinity. Accents of tangerine zest, jasmine and warm spices play on the finish. Drink now through 2031. 3,500 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.
