About the Winemaker:
Silvia Zucchi is the third and current generation from a family with a long history of winemaking in the Sorbara zone of Lambrusco. The winery is located north of Modena along the banks of the Secchia and Panaro rivers. Her family founded the Azienda Agricola Zucchi in the 1950s and has made Lambrusco there ever since. She graduated with a degree in wine-making from the renowned school of winemaking in Conegliano. Silvia, then, returned home to the family business. Her return brought many updates to the winery and a renewed focus on quality. After her tenth harvest working with her family, she formed her own brand under her name, Silvia Zucchi.
With her project, she focuses on small-production wines - high-quality bottlings from their oldest vineyards. She continues to work on clonal selections of Lambrusco di Sorbara from her family’s oldest vineyards, a project she had started while still working with her family.
About the Wine:
100% Lambrusco di Sorbara brut red, sparkling wine, Charmat Method. The grapes are manually harvested the second ten days of September and, to enhance their fruity character, they undergo a short period of cryomaceration for 12 hours. The fermentation takes place, using the Charmat method for 4 weeks at a controlled temperature of 14/16° C.
Tasting Notes:
Ruby red color, limpid and medium intensity. Close-focused fragrance with a broad range of red fruit, cherry and strawberries. Excellent harmony between acidity and tannins. Pleasant with good body and a tangy and enchanting finish.
Ratings & Reviews
94 Points - Wine Enthusast:
"A captivating bouquet, this wine reveals aromas of wild rose, preserved strawberries, candied watermelon, bay leaf, and a hint of potting soil that all lift from the glass in unison. Crunchy and vibrant, the palate showcases tart mixed red berries, pomegranate, and abundant acidity, culminating in a mouthwatering finish with enough tannin to make this wine good from apéro to main course." - Jeff Porter (Oct 2024)
