About the Winery:
Silver Oak Cellars is a family-owned, California winery dedicated to producing only Cabernet Sauvignon. Silver Oak was established in 1972 by Ray Duncan and Justin Meyer. It is currently operated by Ray's sons David Duncan, who serves as the President and CEO, and his brother, Tim Duncan, who serves as Executive Vice President. Silver Oak has two wineries; one in Oakville in the Napa Valley and one in Healdsburg in the Alexander Valley.

Winemaker Notes:
The 1999 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a beautiful, translucent crimson color with ever so slight bricking at the rim. Aromatically, it is a very interesting wine, with dried fruits, hazelnut, dusty cherry, earth and faint nuances of vanilla and sweet pipe tobacco. It has a focused and rich entry with black fruit and graphite flavors. It accomplishes being both a wide and deep wine without being heavy. Its mid-palate reveals black licorice characteristics, and the wine has great consistency throughout, leading to a finish with great length and persistence of flavors. Decanting suggested due to moderate sediment. Enjoy now through 2030.

Ratings & Reviews

89 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley exhibits a deep, saturated ruby/purple color. The wine possesses aromas of sweet toasty oak, earth, spice box, cherries, and currants. It is a soft effort for this vintage. The wine has medium body, and good fruit and flavor. Drink it over the next 10-12 years." - Robert Parker (Aug 2002)
