About the Winery:
Silver Oak Cellars is a family-owned, California winery dedicated to producing only Cabernet Sauvignon. Silver Oak was established in 1972 by Ray Duncan and Justin Meyer. It is currently operated by Ray's sons David Duncan, who serves as the President and CEO, and his brother, Tim Duncan, who serves as Executive Vice President. Silver Oak has two wineries; one in Oakville in the Napa Valley and one in Healdsburg in the Alexander Valley.

Winemaker Notes:
The 1998 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a ruby hue with some bricking visible towards the rim. It has aromas of bright berries, some floral character and red pepper flakes. On the palate, it’s a lighter wine but is juicy, balanced and soft with notes of sage leading to a moderate finish framed by cranberry acidity. Decanting may be necessary due to light sediment. Enjoy now through 2025.

Ratings & Reviews

Wine Advocate:
"The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley reveals complex aromatics of spice box, fruit cake, new oak, and dried herbs. Its frontal attack offers plenty of black currant fruit, licorice, olives, and Provencal herbs. Although it does not possess the size of previous vintages of the nineties, it is built along the lines of a good Bordeaux." – Robert Parker (Aug 2002)
