About the winery:
This Cistercian monastic estate, is one of the oldest wineries in the Austrian Danube area with a documented history that dates back to 1171. All the vineyards are located on slopes and terraces around the valley of the river Kamp near the town of Langenlois and the village of Gobelsburg. Schloss Gobelsburg specialises in Grüner Veltliner and Riesling and produces authentic and noble wines from different single vineyard, village and regional appellations. The winery is member of the association 'Österreichische Traditionsweingüter', which is working on a vineyard classification project for the Danube area.

About the region:
LANGENLOIS represents the lower situated aspects of the
Kamp-valley (Kamptal) appellation. Grapes full maturity and ripen to here
lead to wines with a little more spiciness and broader shoulders. The wines
of the lower Kamptal are characterized by the unmistakable typicity of the
region paired with a little more seriousness. In addition to the delicate fruit
aromas, the wines are characterized by a little spiciness, a th t extra
balanced body with power, but also elegance. These wines are perfect food
companions and universal in food matching.

About the soil:
LANGENLOIS is the centre of the Kamptal appellation and widely
known as the epitome of wine culture. The rolling hills that surround the
historic wine-growing town have always made valuable contribution to s the
regional viticulture . Loess – lpine calcareous soil deposited over hundred A

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - James Suckling:
" Notes of fennel, green apples, white pepper and lemons. Crisp and gently peppery, with a medium body and very clean, focused finish."  - (Jul 2023)

90 Points - Vinous Media:
" The 2022 Grüner Veltliner Langenlois represents a warmer aspect of the region, from lower-lying sites with deeper soils. The nose has an almost stony, earthy, clean and almost austere yeastiness, scented with an overtone of moss and suggesting saltiness. The palate carries fine pepper and gentle crushed sage savoriness on its slender, linear and lemony palate. Bright, taut and so fresh. (Bone-dry) (Drink between 2023-2030)" - Anne Krebiehl MW (Feb 2024)
