About this Champagne:
Intense, fruity and aromatic, Ruinart Rose owes its sensual elegance to the marriage of Chardonnay (45%), mainly from the Chardonnay Premiers Crus of the Cote des Blancs, and Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and Vallee de la Marne, made into red wine.
The nose is fresh and subtle, ripe with cherry and freshly picked red berries, followed by a splash of flowers and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is silky and delicately fleshy.
Ratings & Reviews
"Value is relative when it comes to Champagne, particularly for rose, a category that starts at about $60 per bottle. At $74, Ruinart's offering one of the highest-rated rose Champagnes of my tastings this year deserves recognition for the house's ability to deliver consistent, exceptional quality at a fair price. And Ruinart's relationship with rose is notable, with historical documents marking the house as the first to sell rose in 1764. Today Ruinart is best-known for blanc de blancs from 100 percent Chardonnay, but the rose shows chef de cave Frederic Panaotis skill with Pinot Noir, blending 55 percent Pinot Noir, of which 18 percent was still red wine, with Chardonnay." - Alison Napjus (December 2020)
92 Points - James Suckling:
"Strawberry and pomegranate-infused yeasty autolysis aromas with freshly baked pastry and fresh bready notes. The palate has ripe peach fruits, strawberries and some hints of pink grapefruit. Sweetness, richness and a lively acid kick. Berry pie finish. Drink now." - (October 4, 2017)
92 Points - Vinous Media:
"Light orange. Sharply focused red berry and tangerine scents are complicated by suggestions of allspice and cinnamon, with a hint of smokiness in the background. Sappy and minerally on the palate, offering fresh strawberry and blood orange flavors lifted by juicy acidity. Packs a serious punch but carries no excess weight and finishes stony and very long, with echoing red berry character." - Josh Raynolds (Jan 2015)
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"This soft, finely structured and salmon-hued wine has an explosive mousse. Its attractive strawberry fruit is balanced by rich acidity. Ripe, mouth-filling and softly creamy, it's ready to drink now and has a rounded aftertaste." - Roger Voss (6/1/2017)
