About the Winery:
Roserock is an extraordinary vineyard at the southern tip of the Eola-Amity Hills, in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Ancient volcanic soils, an ideal elevation range and the unique cooling effect of the Van Duzer corridor produce classic cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

About the Wine:
Our Roserock Pinot Noir is a cuvée selection from the estate’s 35 blocks, which are handpicked, sorted and individually fermented. While Pinot Noirs from the Eola-Amity Hills are typically known for their structure and power, Véronique Drouhin emphasizes Roserock’s elegant and refined qualities, making for a delicious and age worthy cuvée.

The 2022 growing season began with great optimism. After a reasonable winter, bud break started in early April, right on schedule. Then, an unprecedented arctic air mass swept in, bringing snowfall, below-freezing temperatures, and the first-ever frost to impact our vineyards. Subsequent cool and damp conditions over the next few months caused sluggish vine growth, putting us 2-4 weeks behind by June. Mercifully, Mother Nature bestowed abundant sunshine and higher-than-average temperatures on us as harvest approached, resulting in a gentle conclusion to the season and excellent fruit ripeness. While the Pinot Noir crop volumes were lower than usual, the quality of the fruit was exceptional - a compromise that we gladly accept!

Véronique’s Tasting Notes
"A rich garnet color sets the stage for our 2022 Roserock Pinot Noir. The nose unfolds with memorable aromas of lavender, violet, cherry pie and home-baked warmth. Layers of flavor, including cassis and cardamom, end an exotic, spicy note, complemented by the bright, juicy sweetness of marionberry. The tannins provide a firm structure, adding depth and dimension to the wine, leading to a broad finish that lingers on. Enjoy now or hold 8+ years."

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"This is a Goldilocks porridge wine where everything from the lemony acidity to the sturdy tannins was “just right.” It is medium- bodied fare, with blackberry, Thai basil and orange-zest flavors. Violet and cinnamon-stick aromas blend harmoniously with notes of dark raspberries and blueberry fruit leather. It is a stunning value." - Michael Alberty (July 2024)

94 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Supple and elegantly structured, with detailed raspberry and cherry flavors that are accented by rose petal, brown baking spices and orange peel as this glides toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2032. 15,100 cases made." - Tim Fish (Jun 2024)

94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
The 2022 Pinot Noir Rose Rock pours a deeper ruby/magenta color and offers a lovely layer of spice in its aromatics of pine needles, bright cherries, forest floor, and sappy, fresh herbs. With a hint of violets coming through, it expands through the palate, with medium body, a bit more structure, ripe tannins, and a little more stemmy spice in a pleasing way. Drink 2024-2034.

93 Points - James Suckling:
"A delicate, crunchy and refined pinot noir with notes of cranberries, Morello cherries, baking spices and roses. It’s medium-bodied with sleek tannins and fresh acidity. Bright and agile with a silky texture. Succulent, with a focused, subtle finish. Drink or hold." (Mar 2024)

91 Points - Vinous Media:
"The woodland-inspired 2022 Pinot Noir Roserock wafts up with peppery herbs, florals, woodland berries and hints of clove. This flows across the palate with supple textures and vividly ripe wild berries, all balanced by a core of vibrant acidity. It tapers off with medium length and perfumed, leaving a gentle mineral tinge and inner roses. The Roserock is a finessed beauty." - Eric Guido (Jan 2024)
