‘Filo di Seta,’ is a special Brunello that is the result of a very careful selection of the best harvest grapes collected from the vineyards just nearby the castle. Its name translated, means ‘Silk thread’, a name that takes its inspiration from a small river that runs next to the vineyards where it is produced. This wine seeks to be one of the highest expression of Montalcino’s northwest micro climate.

Tasting Notes

It is ruby red with orange tinges it speaks of red berries with saline undertones which then turn to the scent of roses and crushed violets becoming impressive on the nose. The taste is dynamic and extremely pleasant. It is a full bodied wine embracing warm, soft tones and elegant, ultra fine tannins that build on the palate with a cool, sleek texture and style. The progression of its taste is astounding and has a long and powerful finish.

COMPOSITION: 100% Sangiovese
AGEING: 30 months in French oak

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - James Suckling:
"This is a Brunello with a beautiful purity of fruit and balance of ultra-fine tannins. Full body, totally integrated and holistic. Fresh and focused. Drink in 2020 but already a joy to taste." - (27 Nov, 2017)

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Made with fruit from a slightly cooler site, the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta takes a few minutes to open but is well worth the wait. Despite the tight and nervous character of Sangiovese, this wine is suddenly generous, opulent and exuberant all at once. It's like meeting a person for the first time who initially seems shy, but then who suddenly moves in for the big bear hug. Its disposition is as generous as it is genuine. The mouthfeel is textured, supple and warm." - Monica Larner (28th Feb 2018)

93+ Points - Vinous Media:
"Deep ruby. Tar and flowers mingle with red plum and peppery herbs on the nose and in the mouth. Juicy and spicy, with herbal nuances picking up steam on the spicy long, suavely tannic finish. An outstanding Brunello .“Filo di Seta” is the name of a stream that runs right by the castle on the property. " Ian D'Agata - (Mar 2019)

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Fine harmony and richness meld with the cherry, plum and leather flavors in this fluid red. Shows the structure for mid-term aging, offering light grip on the tobacco-laced finish. Best from 2021 through 2033. 350 cases made, 40 cases imported." - BS (Issue Jun 15, 2018)
