About the Winery:
The Rochioli family has definitely earned its place in the pantheon of stellar winemaking. Grapegrowers since the 1930's, their 160 acre estate is one of the jewels of the Russian River Valley. This barrel fermented wine is a blend of 3 of their estate plots.

Vineyards: 100% Estate Vineyards – 52% River Block, 42% Mid 40, 6% Little Hill
Composition: 100% Chardonnay
Tasting Note: Crisp acidity with flavors and aromas of ripe apple, apricot, vanilla, hazelnut, and a touch of spice Fermentation: Whole cluster pressed directly to barrel with no skin contact.
Aging: 25% New French Oak for 9 months
Alcohol: 14.5%

Ryan Rochioli is now taking charge of this wine. The 2024 Chardonnay Estate is a bright yellow hue and carries more structure and youthful astringency than some of the others in the lineup, though I suspect it simply needs time. Pineapple rind, almond, candlewax, spice, richness, and immense length all emerge on the palate. Powerful but never heavy. Drink 2026-2040.
