About the Winemaker:
Jacques Lardière was born on the west coast of France in 1948, and he led winemaking at Maison Louis Jadot for 42 vintages. Jacques retired in 2012, but he kept asking himself, “What’s next?” Two months later, he had his answer: Résonance. Having identified a potentially iconic vineyard capable of producing site-expressive wines with character, he came out of retirement to participate in the founding of Résonance.
Our winemaking is about having a good knowledge of the best of a vineyard block’s terroir with minimal intervention. This attention to detail requires an openness as well as experience. Only through curiosity can we transmit what the soil has given us.
Each lot is aged in custom, handcrafted French oak barrels, chosen for the right tightness of grain as well as the soil in which the oak grew. We allow our wines to rest quietly—racking maybe only once—until they reach their purest expression, and are then released.
Notes from the Winemaker:
Our Willamette Valley Chardonnay
represents a blend of the finest vineyards in the Willamette Valley and includes grapes from our own estate vineyards, Résonance and Découverte. We work with like-minded wine growers throughout the area who share our commitment to cultivating terroirdriven Chardonnay. The result is a cuvée that offers an authentic representation of the Willamette Valley AVA.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"A core of lemon driven intensity the Résonance Willamette Valley bottlings are nearly as impressive as the single vineyard designates. This wine is a combination of the estate vineyards and some of the Willamette Valley's top sites. Aromas of sweet Meyer lemon blossom, fragrant gardenias, and smoky grilled lemon peel. The palate showcases a real vibrance of fruit, early season stone fruits, lemon curd and bright mineral elements. Crisp acidity yet richly balanced. (Drink between 2024-2034)" - Clive Pursehouse - (April 2024)
91 Points - Vinous Media:
“The 2022 Chardonnay Willamette Valley impresses with its fruit-forward yet beautifully balanced personality, blending yellow apples with chamomile, ginger and hints of white smoke. This is soothingly round with a balance of saline minerals and ripe pears, all guided by brisk acidity. It finishes with admirable length and gentle tension, leaving minty herbal tones to linger on.
