About the Winery:
Following World War II, Alfredo Prunotto and his wife took over and restored an old cooperative winery called "Vini delle Langhe", establishing a new era under the Prunotto name. Prunotto imposed new standards on production, elevating the level of quality and succeeding in exporting his wines to several countries. Prunotto was the first winery to individually select grapes from the finest vineyards and to designate the name of the vineyard (cru) as a symbol of the quality and specific characteristics of the wine. The Antinori group purchased the winery in 1989 and made great investments towards improvements. The strategic vision brought by Antinori is well represented by the acquisition of prominent vineyards in the most exclusive areas: the Bussia vineyard, acquired in 1990, and the Bric Turot vineyard, bought in 1997, to name two.

Prunotto's desire to control every detail in all phases of production, starting from the vine and ending in the glass has become a distinctive feature of their high quality. The balance between tradition and innovation continues to be a distinctive feature of Prunotto wines. The meticulous care for each bottle is the result of a century of experience, great passion for wine and love for the land of Piedmont. These characteristics made Prunotto a leader in the production of Alba's finest wines.

Notes from the Winemaker:
A garnet red wine in color with dark ruby highlights and with a complex nose with notes of licorice, berry fruit, cinnamon, cloves, and violets. The flavors feature solid and ample tannins and a long finish of ripe fruit. With its full body and significant structure, it is an excellent match to meat dishes and to cheese. Serve at a temperature of 17° centigrade (62° Fahrenheit).

Winemaking:
selected grape bunches were destemmed and pressed. The fermentation on the skins lasted approximately fifteen days at a maximum temperature of 30° centigrade (86° Fahrenheit) and the malolactic fermentation finished before the beginning of winter.

Aging:
Principally in 50 hectoliter oak casks and, in small part, in 60 gallon oak barrels used once previously, lasted twelve months and the wine was given an additional twelve months of bottle aging in the Prunotto cellars before commercial release.

Technical Data:

Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo
Alcohol 14% vol.
Total acidity: grams per liter
Dry extract: grams per liter

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Firm yet well-integrated tannins provide the backbone as the 2008 Barbaresco Bric Turot opens up in the glass. I find lovely inner sweetness and perfume in the dark fruit, although the 2008 is several years away, at a minimum, from providing true pleasure. Hints of spices and flowers wrap around the vibrant, juicy finish." - Antonio Galloni (October 2012)

90 Points - Wine Spectator:
"This is aromatic, with cherry and white pepper aromas, followed by raspberry, leather and tobacco flavors. Elegant and firmly structured, ending with black tea and eucalyptus accents. A traditional style. Best from 2014 through 2026. 1,500 cases made." – Bruce Sanderson (Apr 2012)
