About the Winery:
Produttori del Barbaresco exclusively vinifies Nebbiolo grapes from the vineyards owned by the 50 member-growers in within the Barbaresco DOCG appellation.

In any given vintage a Barbaresco and a Nebbiolo Langhe are produced. The former, first released in the 1958 vintage, is made by assembling grapes from different fully grown vineyards. This is the flagship wine of the winery, known all over the world for the solid quality and great value that it represents. The latter, first released in 1975, is made with a selection of grapes from younger vineyards in within the region. It is suited for earlier consumption and it is a great way to introduce one’s palate to the beauty of the Nebbiolo grape and the Barbaresco terroir.

In great vintages only, nine single vineyards are produced and released after four years under the Riserva (Reserve) program. These wines are produced from a selection of grapes sourced from nine historical premium sites within the Barbaresco village boundaries. Historical vineyards, known for centuries for producing high quality grapes and now worldwide famous also thanks to the Produttori del Barbaresco legacy. Their names are Asili, Montefico, Montestefano, Muncagota, Ovello, Pajè, Pora, Rabajà, Rio Sordo.

First released in 1967, they are vinified and aged with exactly the same style in order to show their different personalities at their best and purest form. A tasting of the nine "Produttori Crus" is therefore an unique experience, just like a walk through the hills of Barbaresco can be!

Ratings & Reviews

97 Points - James Suckling:
"Lots of white-truffle, ripe-strawberry and crushed-stone character. Full-bodied with a focused and pinpointed palate of flavors similar to the aromas. The tannins are polished and beautiful. Very elegant and sophisticated Rabaja. Drink after 2025 and onwards.” (Aug 2022)

96+ Points - Wine Advocate:
"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà is another spectacular release from this cooperative winery that hits it out of the ballpark with each set of new releases. That impressive track record includes this wine that delivers extreme focus, depth and integrity. The bouquet is very clear cut with dark cherry, tart plum, spice and blood orange, but it is also complex and fluid. It offers new perspectives with each swirl of the glass. From a hot vintage, the Rabajà is smooth, powerful and balanced. I would bet on long aging for this bottle. 14,438 bottles were produced. – Monica Larner (Jun 2022)

95 Points - The Wine Independent:
"The 2017 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva has a perfumed nose of some complexity, with notes of violet and creamy vanilla oak, smoke and spice and autumnal dried flowers. The lavish texture -like melted butter - and bright, juicy acidity is supported by well-integrated, fine but intense layers of tannins with a very slight dryness. This wine needs a little time but it is going to be really good. It is assertive but has lots of seductive charm and a velvet texture. Wait 1-2 years and keep up to 20.” – Susan Hulme (Jul 2023)

95 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Dense, featuring fruit flavors of plum, cherry and raspberry, with accents of tar, eucalyptus and iron. A powerful red that needs time to resolve the muscular tannins, with plenty of ripe fruit coursing underneath. Best from 2026 through 2043. 1,617 cases made, 300 cases imported.” – BS (Apr 2023)

95 Points- Wine Enthusiast:
"This fragrant, full-bodied red has aromas of iris, woodland berry, dark spice and cedar. Firmly structured but also showing finesse, the savory palate exhibits fleshy raspberry, ripe black cherry and licorice framed in tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Best from 2024 to 2029.” – Kerin O’Keefe (Sep 2022)

94 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja is a potent, seemingly tannic wine that will need a few years to come together. Brooding and backward, even for young Rabaja, the 2017 is painfully young today. It will be interesting to see what time brings. Today, the 2017 is a real powerhouse. Black fruit, menthol, licorice, melted road tar, game and menthol develop in the glass, but only with great reluctance.” – Antonio Galloni (Feb 2022)
