About the Winery:
Produttori del Barbaresco exclusively vinifies Nebbiolo grapes from the vineyards owned by the 50 member-growers in within the Barbaresco DOCG appellation.

In any given vintage a Barbaresco and a Nebbiolo Langhe are produced. The former, first released in the 1958 vintage, is made by assembling grapes from different fully grown vineyards. This is the flagship wine of the winery, known all over the world for the solid quality and great value that it represents. The latter, first released in 1975, is made with a selection of grapes from younger vineyards in within the region. It is suited for earlier consumption and it is a great way to introduce one’s palate to the beauty of the Nebbiolo grape and the Barbaresco terroir.

In great vintages only, nine single vineyards are produced and released after four years under the Riserva (Reserve) program. These wines are produced from a selection of grapes sourced from nine historical premium sites within the Barbaresco village boundaries. Historical vineyards, known for centuries for producing high quality grapes and now worldwide famous also thanks to the Produttori del Barbaresco legacy. Their names are Asili, Montefico, Montestefano, Muncagota, Ovello, Pajè, Pora, Rabajà, Rio Sordo.

First released in 1967, they are vinified and aged with exactly the same style in order to show their different personalities at their best and purest form. A tasting of the nine "Produttori Crus" is therefore an unique experience, just like a walk through the hills of Barbaresco can be!

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Offers a bright, pure expression of cherry, strawberry, rose and grassy aromas and flavors underscored by a vein of minerality, with tannins that flex their muscles on the long finish. Intense but balanced, with tension that bodes well for future evolution. Best from 2026 through 2043. 1,388 cases made, 350 cases imported.” – BS (Apr 2023)

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Mountain hay, cedar, new leather and pipe tobacco aromas take center stage. Full-bodied and concentrated, the savory palate offers fleshy black cherry, licorice and botanical herb set against a backbone of close-grained tannins. A minty note lingers on the close. Drink through 2029. – Kerin O’Keefe (Sep 2022)

94 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Muncagota plays some of its best cards in terms of texture, offering silky tannins, firmness and a long-lasting veil of fruit flavors. Cassis, wild cherry, camphor ash, spice and iron ore are aromatic protagonists. This wine is lean and compact but very linear and focused. Like the other Riservas in this group of new releases, the wine is fermented in steel and aged in large oak casks for 32 months. 10,000 bottles were produced.” – Monica Larner (Jun 2022)

92 Points - The Wine Independent:
"The 2017 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Muncagota Riserva starts with a somewhat closed nose, with a hint of dried, spicy fruit. It has a beautiful velvety quality on the palate with fine-textured, sandy-grained tannins, but the flavors and aromas are slightly subdued right now and more in the range of autumnal, dried fruit notes. I really like the voluptuous texture and the weight and as always the freshness of fruit and the quality of the well-integrated tannins. Wait 2 years and drink to 15-20.” – Susan Hulme (Jul 2023)

92 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Muncagota is one of the lighter wines in this range. Floral and medium in body, the 2017 gives the impression of a wine that will open earlier than some of the others. It, too, has pretty imposing tannins though, so a few years in bottle are advisable. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherry, mint and white pepper linger.” – Antonio Galloni (Feb 2022)
