About the Winery:
Nestled in the Mayacamas Mountains between St. Helena and Santa Rosa, the picturesque 235 acre estate of Pride Mountain Vineyards sprawls across Spring Mountain at roughly 2,100 feet, six miles up a winding, narrow road above St. Helena.  The winery produces unique wines in contrast to those made in the neighboring valleys. The vineyards are set above the fog line, which enables the grapes to be exposed to California's hot sun from dawn to dusk. As a result, the flavors of these wines tend to be rich with ripe black fruits, "balance, nuance, and complexity." They are made to be approachable at a young age with the capability to age beneficially for 10-15 years. Their first wine was produced in 1991.

Tasting Notes

Our 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the unique interplay of fruit, floral and savory herbal notes that this variety exhibits when at its very best. At first, the wine is brimming with aromas of blackberry and Crème de Cassis. As it settles in, enticing notes of sage, tobacco leaf and cedar come into play. A beautiful balance of acidity and structure give it an alluring, nuanced tension. As the wine further uncoils in the glass, delicate hints of violet unfold. Its lively, pretty nature joins seamlessly with an underlying power and elegance to make a wine that will age gracefully over the next 20 years.

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - James Suckling:
"Classic aromas of blackcurrants, dark cherries, cedar and graphite. The palate is full-bodied with fine tannins and integrated acidity, giving notes of Damson plums, licorice and boysenberries. Well balanced and refined, with a drying finish. Drink or hold." (Dec 2024)
