About the Winery:
Nestled in the Mayacamas Mountains between St. Helena and Santa Rosa, the picturesque 235 acre estate of Pride Mountain Vineyards sprawls across Spring Mountain at roughly 2,100 feet, six miles up a winding, narrow road above St. Helena. The winery produces unique wines in contrast to those made in the neighboring valleys. The vineyards are set above the fog line, which enables the grapes to be exposed to California's hot sun from dawn to dusk. As a result, the flavors of these wines tend to be rich with ripe black fruits, "balance, nuance, and complexity." They are made to be approachable at a young age with the capability to age beneficially for 10-15 years. Their first wine was produced in 1991.
Tasting Notes
This wine exudes elegance and inner beauty. The seamless texture has enough weight to speak of its mountaintop origin but is more about creamy, silky, enveloping pleasure with not a single component out of place. The comforting flavors of black cherry, ripe plum, licorice, spice and cocoa are uplifted and made intriguing by aromatics of sweet tobacco, sandalwood, black pepper and lavender. This gorgeous cabernet simply resonates charm today and will age gracefully for decades.

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
Deep, opaque ruby in the glass, this powerfully structured Cabernet displays aromas of baked earth, black plum and dry cocoa on the nose. The palate is plush and richly tannic, with flavors of dried cranberry, dusty black cherry, pencil shavings and caramel. This should round into form nicely with a few years in the cellar. — Tom Capo
91 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
Pretty cassis, red currants, tobacco, and damp earth notes define the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, a classic, medium-bodied, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon from this team. It has fine tannins, a good sense of acidity, and outstanding length.
