Notes from the Winemaker:
As is the case of all TEMPOS Vega Sicilia wines, the harvest is by hand with the fruit being placed in 12-kg boxes and grapes, once in the winery, they are left in a cold chamber for 12 hours in order to preserve their fruit intensity.

Along with the selection on the wine, a double sorting is carried out in the winery. This first removes those bunches that may have been wrongly picked in the field and the second focuses on the substandard berries that are found on optimum bunches. A cold maceration is carried out for 5 days prior to fermentation in oak wood vats.

The malolactic fermentation is 100% carried out in wood and the ageing in 70% French and 30% American during 12 months.

Ratings & Reviews

96 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
" Deep ruby to the eye, this wine has aromas of blackberry, Mission fig and dried Mediterranean herbs. Black currant, black cherry, mocha and licorice flavors are cloaked in a layer of sturdy tannins that flitter away and leave behind notes of ripe summer cherry and milk chocolate." - Mike DeSimone (Sep 2024)

95 Points - James Suckling:
"Ripe blackberries, tar, dark cherries and dark spices. Fine cocoa powder, too. Rich and full-bodied on the palate with a saline smack to the middle. Very long and powerful but expressive and refined. A little richer and more powerful than 2018, but elegant and poised at the same time. Vertical, fine-grained tannins. Drink from 2026." - Zekun Shuai (Nov 2023)

94 Points - Wine Advocate:

"The wine released in 2024 is the 2019 Pintia, from a very dry year when they did a softer vinification and used some 15% stainless steel for the élevage to keep the fruit and freshness. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and oak vats. It's a powerful year; the wine has 15% alcohol and is round and full-bodied. It's a heady and ripe Pintia. They had to be careful with the harvest date, and they harvested early and quite quickly. Even though the wine is ripe and heady, with notes of grenadine and small ripe berries, it's also exotic and spicy, quite showy, lush and full-bodied, with the 2019 tannins. It's a more powerful wine that is going to require patience. They produced 224,724 bottles, 6,587 magnums and some smaller and larger sizes. It was bottled in May 2021." - Luis Gutierrez (Jun 2024)

92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A red with depth and concentration, but also a sense of poise and finesse. Fine-grained tannins and velvety texture carry flavors of creamed black cherry and crème de cassis fruit, with accents of Mediterranean macchia, tar, mocha and licorice. The firm finish is long and well-spiced. Best from 2025 through 2035. 1,986 cases imported." - Alison Napjus (May 2024)

92 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2019 Pintia originates from Toro, and only 15% was aged in large foudres to preserve the fruit, while the remaining portion underwent maturation in both French and American barrels, with 70% being new. Garnet in color. The ripe fruit nose reveals blackberry, dried flowers and minty hints accompanied by an oaky layer. Rich and intense on the palate, the firm Toro tannins from a warm and dry year contribute to the concentrated and flavorful lingering finish." - Joaquín Hidalgo (Sep 2023)
