About the Winery:
Pietradolce, means sweet stone in Italian and is an ode to Etna. The volcanic soil covering the slopes is very stony, sandy and mineral-rich. The Etna volcanos abundant mineral components and microclimate cool nights, warm days and wide-ranging temperature variations give Pietradolce wines extraordinary richness, minerality, fragrance and depth.

Notes from the Winemaker:
100% Nerello Mascalese. Pietradolce “Archineri” Etna Rosso DOC is ripe and fruity on the nose, with distinct spicy and balsamic nuances. On the palate, excellent volume, depth and structure, great mouthfeel and simultaneously finesse; clean, consistent and persistent finish.

From old, amply terraced vineyards which express intrinsic character and goût de terroir (acidity & minerality) and is very cellar-worthy thanks to the outstanding structure.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - James Suckling:
"A bright and vibrant red with fresh red berries and some dry mineral notes. Medium body with a tight feel and firm tannins. Crisp finish. A good introduction to Etna Rosso as always. Drink now." (Aug 2021)

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Underbrush, scorched soil and cedar aromas along with whiffs of blue flowers and Mediterranean herbs form the nose. Austere and linear, the elegantly structured palate offers suggestions of dried cherry and licorice before a rusty nail close. Tight, fine-grained tannins provide support." – Kerin O’Keefe (Nov 2021)

90 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A vibrant red, with fine integration and good drive, layering taut tannins and bright acidity with flavors of macerated cherry, black tea leaf and tar-tinged smoke, plus a touch of lingering spices on the lightly chewy finish. Drink now through 2027. 583 cases made, 200 cases imported. – Alison Napjus (Feb 2024)
