About the Winery:
Pietradolce means "sweet stone" in Italian, a tribute to Mount Etna and its stony, mineral-rich volcanic soils. The estate is based in Solicchiata on Etna's northern slopes, where cool nights and marked temperature changes help native grape varieties retain freshness and fragrance.
About the Wine:
Etna Bianco is made entirely from Carricante grown on the northern slopes of Mount Etna at 700-800 meters above sea level. Sandy-loam soils rich in volcanic rock shape its fresh, lively character.
Producer's Winemaking Notes:
The producer's general profile describes hand harvesting between late September and early October, gentle pressing, and four to six months of ageing in stainless steel. The 2025 wine is 100% Carricante with 13% alcohol.
Tasting Notes:
The importer's general note describes a pale straw-colored white with fresh fruit aromas, bright acidity and pronounced minerality.
Food Pairing:
Pair with fresh cheeses, grilled vegetables or pizza.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - James Suckling:
"Spicy and peppery wine with pear candy, green apple and wet wool. Light-bodied, zesty on the palate with a silky texture, slightly chalky on the finish yet full flavored. Drink now." (Jul 2026)
90 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Famed for its single-vineyard wines and commitment to old-vine Nerello Mascalese, Pietradolce also makes some very fine Carricante from its vineyard holdings on Etna's northern slopes – and they are planting more. This comes from the vineyards at 700m-800m around the winery in Solicchiata combined with fruit from Feudo di Mezzo in Castiglione di Sicilia. It is vinified entirely in stainless steel and offers up discreet verbena, citrus and basil notes on the nose, which segues into a zingy, crisp and elegant palate that shivers with lemony acidity." - Jason Millar (Oct 2026)
