About the Winery:
Pietradolce, means sweet stone in Italian and is an ode to Etna. The volcanic soil covering the slopes is very stony, sandy and mineral-rich. The Etna volcanos abundant mineral components and microclimate cool nights, warm days and wide-ranging temperature variations give Pietradolce wines extraordinary richness, minerality, fragrance and depth.
Pure Carricante, Etna's ancient white grape, which has been growing there for a thousand years. After so many centuries, the variety has perfectly adapted to the unique climate on the slopes, especially the drastic temperature changes between day and night.
Notes from the Winemaker:
Because of the volcanic soil, its mineral component and the unique climate conditions, this Etna white has the pronounced minerality and unabashed acidity typical to wines of this territory.
Tasting Notes:
Soft straw yellow. Shows lovely fruit, distinctive acidity and the typical minerality of Etna wines.
Food Pairing:
Pairs well with fresh cheeses, grilled vegetables, and pizza.
Ratings & Reviews
91 Points - Vinous Media:
"A burst of crushed stones, ginger-spiked green apples, fennel and dried flowers creates an invigorating bouquet as the 2023 Etna Bianco explodes from the glass. It’s silky and enveloping, with a sour tinge of green melon and salty mineral tones that add cheek-puckering tension within. The 2023 tapers off wickedly fresh yet potent. A sour citrus concentration lingers as hints of kiwi and fresh mint slowly recede." - Eric Guido (Jun 2024)
