Notes from the Winemaker:

Terroir of "Les Montjolys" is situated in the Grand Cru village of Les Mesnil sur Oger and enjoys higher percentage of clay and deeper soil than most of others sites of the village.

Seven parcels from this terroir, yield the grapes used to make this extremely rare and already sought-after cuvee. They are vinified separately and undergo different vinifications.

Partial Malo, the cuvee always results from a blend of a very sharp selection of less than 10% the juices of the seven parcels.
Each vintage age at least 6 years on the lees before disgorgement.

These vines, impacted by the quality of the terroir and our mass selection practices, provide the definitive statement of the particular style of this clayey terroir. A wine which achieve an ideal combination of an aerial nose and a mix of full mouth, resonance and mineral vivacity.

Tasting Notes:
The robe is clear yellow with hints of green which are typical of the Chardonnay varietal. The mousse is fine and regular with a pretty ribbon of strong bubbles

Aerial, mixing finesse and complexity, the nose opens up on a bunch of white flowers and freshly baked bread, evolves to citrus. Once aerated, the first notes of biscuit and hazelnut, to make way to a vivid chalky minerality.

The attack is very pure and intense. Aromatics of green apple leave quickly space to a lemon confit center, linden blossom et sweet spices. The tight finale but with an extreme length shows almond and chalk and has probably less youthful austerity than his sibling Les

Ratings & Reviews

96 Points - Vinous:
"Here in its first release, the 2012 Blanc de Blancs Cuvee Speciale Les Montjolys takes all of Pierre Peters signatures and gives them an extra kick of intensity that comes from the higher percentage of clay and generally heavier soils in this parcel, which sits just below Les Chétillons. Ample and explosive, with tremendous backing energy, the Montjolys has so much going on. Orange marmalade, spice, butter, hazelnut and lemon confit are front and center. More than anything else, the Les Montjolys possesses tons of breadth and resonance, not to mention considerable character. The Peters family owns three hectares across seven parcels in Montjolys, that form the backbone of the Cuvee de Reserve. This is the first release of pure Montjolys from Pierre Péters, and it is fabulous. Dosage is 3.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: November, 2018." Antonio Galloni - (Jul 2019)

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"From a lieu-dit that sits in a small depression and where the soils are richer in clay comes the inaugural release of Peters's 2012 Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvee Speciale Les Montjolys, a lovely wine that offers up aromas of freshly baked bread, citrus oil, green apple, warm biscuits and white flowers. It's medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with the same incisive, chalky spine that characterizes Les Chetillons, but it has more finesse and less youthful austerity. It's a lovely addition to the range." - William Kelley (30th Aug 2019)
