The Palmer & Co wines mature in a maze of deep chalky galleries, remaining in contact with the lees for at least four years for Palmer Brut Reserve, six to eight years for the vintage cuvees and up to ten years or more for magnums and larger format bottles. Highly regarded for their excellence and elegance, the Palmer & Co cuvees are regularly distinguished in major international wine competitions and endorsed by Champagne experts.
About this Champagne:
Grande Terroirs is a premium cuvée which aims to showcase the top grand and premier sites of the Montagne de Reims.
Tasting Notes: The nose opens with notes of orange blossom and acacia mixed with yellow fruits. It then evolves towards delicately spiced aromas of pan-fried pineapple and tonka bean. The palate offers fresh citrus flavors, rounded by brioche and dried fruit. The creamy texture stretches into a persistent finish.
Wine Composition: 50% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir, 12% Pinot Meunier
Alcohol: 12%
Residual Sugar: 7 G/L
pH: 3.08
Total Acidity: 4.3
"The 2015 Grands Terroirs opens with a floral note of acacia blossom and ripe yellow fruits, a generous nod to the very dry, warm, sunny growing season – from bud break to harvest it was the hottest vintage since records began, surpassing even 2003 and 1976. On the palate Chardonnay takes the driving seat in the blend, with the freshness and impact of Trépail fruit giving a bright, citrus salinity, plus a note of bitterness. It boasts good intensity and an exotic dried fruit element, a hint of spiced pineapple, as it opens in the glass, but it needs a little more time to develop fully. Dosage: 7g/L. Disgorged: November 2021. 50% Chardonnay from Trépail and Villers-Marmery; 38% Pinot Noir from Mailly and Verzenay; 12% Meunier from Ludes, Chigny-les-Rosé and Rilly-la-Montagne. (Jun 2022)
92 Points - James Suckling:
"A chalky and mineral Champagne with aromas of blanched almonds, chalk, seashells, biscuits, lemon pith and dried apples. Creamy mousse. Dry and bright, with a rounded finish. Drink now or hold. (Jun 2022)
91 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A balanced Champagne, with a creamy mousse and flavors of cherry, poached pear, lemon pound cake and minerally chalk and smoke backed by soft orange peel acidity. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Drink now through 2027. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 5,000 cases made, 425 cases imported. – AN (Nov 2022)
