Notes from the Winemaker:
A beautiful take on California Chardonnay from Durell Vineyard, one of the finest vineyards on the Sonoma coast, where the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean allows the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. With its restrained bouquet of lemon curd, lime zest, honey and lightly toasted oak giving way to full flavors of mineral, honeydew, and pineapple, it maintains its bright personality and finishes with toasted almond.

Aged 16 months in French oak (50% new); 14.5% alcohol; bottled April 2013; 81 cases produced.

Ratings & Reviews

Wine Spectator:
"The intense white peach, nectarine and honeydew melon notes show a hint of lees and tannins, lending this a raw texture. The flavors are pure and deep, extending on the finish. Drink now through 2018. 74 cases made." - JL (Dec 2013)

Wine Enthusiast:
"New French oak, to the tune of 50%, dominates this Chard, giving it buttered toast, vanilla and honey flavors that dominate the underlying pineapples, lemons and limes. The acidity is brisk and vital." - VB (Nov 2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Made in a completely different style, the 2011 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard. Its light gold color is followed by notes of poached pears, caramelized citrus and ripe beach, medium body, and a beguiling richness and length that builds in the mouth. The use of 50% new French oak is barely noticeable. Enjoy this lovely white over the next 1-3 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (Dec 2013)
