About the Winery:
Miner is a dynamic family-owned winery tucked along the eastern hills of the Oakville appellation in the heart of Napa Valley. Founded in 1998 by Dave and Emily Miner, Miner Family Winery crafts reserve-style wines by sourcing fruit from Napa Valley and other specially selected California vineyards.
Our winemaking team uses a combination of old world winemaking techniques and modern technology to make wines that reflect the unique characteristics of individual vineyards or “terroir” where specific varietals grow best. This fusion of superb vineyard sites and thoughtful winemaking allows Miner to deliver elegant, expressive wines.
About the Wine:
Sourced from hillside vineyards, our Merlot features intricately woven flavors of ripe black cherry, tobacco and smoky cedar notes. With medium acidity, gentle tannins and long, velvety finish, our Merlot is an elegantly structured expression of this varietal.
Miner Family's 2022 Napa Valley Merlot blends 85% Merlot with 15% Cabernet Franc, bringing supple fruit and savory detail to an elegantly structured red.
Vineyards: The fruit comes from Castlerock and Brokenrock vineyards in Napa Valley. These hillside sites provide the foundation for this Merlot-led blend.
Winemaking: Harvest took place September 26 through October 4, 2022. The wine matured for 21 months in French oak barrels, 55% new, and was bottled August 7, 2024. Production totaled 305 cases.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairings: Black cherry leads a savory profile of tobacco and smoky cedar. Moderate acidity and gentle tannins give the wine a smooth texture and a lingering, velvety finish. Suggested pairings include roast pork, duck, grilled beef and mushroom dishes.

"The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Emily's is made from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it erupts with opulent notes of baked plums and crème de cassis, followed by hints of unsmoked cigars, sautéed herbs, and dusty soil.
