Notes from the Winemaker:
It has been said that in partnership, the result is harmony. Through a lifetime of building relationships in the vineyards of Burgundy, Pierre Meurgey has proven this a steadfast rule. A native Burgundian, fourth generation wine trader, and former director of operations of a well-known négociant in Beaune, Pierre enjoys friendships with the top vintners and vineyard managers in Burgundy to source the finest grapes for his two labels Pierre Meurgey and Meurgey-Croses, the latter a tribute to his mother Marie-Thérèse Croses. Pierre is omnipresent in the vineyards from pruning to bud- break to harvest, offering his expertise in organic and biodynamic agriculture while working tirelessly with vineyard managers to oversee the plots destined to become his signature Cote d'Or and Mâconnais wines.
This is one of the 43 villages entitled to produce the appellation Mâcon Villages or Mâcon followed by the name of the location. Situated in the northern part of Mâcon area, the village of Uchizy is close to the village of Chardonnay, south of Tournus.
This wine is fermented and aged in tanks only in order to emphasize the fruitiness and freshness. 100% of the wine goes through malolactic fermentation. The village of Uchizy, located in the northern part of Mâcon, is known for the aromatic expression and minerality of its wines. Bottling occurs during the spring.

Ratings & Reviews
90 Points - Vinous:
The 2021 Mâcon-Uchizy has an attractive petrichor scented bouquet, crisp and focused, almost Chablis-like in style. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, tensile with a keen thread of acidity that imparts plenty of tension and nerve on the finish. Bravo. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting.
Allen Meadows' Burghound:
Cool and restrained aromas include those of green apple, zest and a whiff of spice. There is both good density and vibrancy to the delicious middleweight flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the mildly rustic, clean and agreeably dry if not especially complex finale.
