About the Distillery:

Carefully crafted and cask-perfected at The GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside, our peated single malt serves up a sweet smoke style impeccably balanced with the heather honey character of our distillate.

Guided by revered Master Distiller, Billy Walker, our team is on a ‘Meikle Tòir’ (meaning ‘big pursuit’). The goal: To carefully craft and cask-perfect a peerless peated single malt at our Speyside home, The GlenAllachie Distillery.

About the Whisky:

Coming in at 35 PPM, the whisky has a sweeter style of smoke character owing to the mainland peat from St. Fergus used to kiln the barley. After a lengthy 160-hour fermentation, the whisky has a complex character which stands up well to ageing in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, followed by Chinquapin virgin oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Smoldering oak embers, burnt liquorice and honey, with ginger, butterscotch and orange peel.

Taste: Cocoa, crème brûlée and toasted almonds, with cinnamon, aniseed and campfire smoke.

Ratings & Reviews:

92 Points - Whisky Advocate

"Comforting smoke envelops the nose, with early notes of creosote, wooden fish boxes, and iodine, followed by vanilla sponge, honey, wood spice, toasted oak, crystallized ginger, and a light dusting of cinnamon. The palate brings dried cherry, milk chocolate, burnt sugar, toasted flaked almonds, espresso, aniseed balls, clove, and forest honey, with a lengthy finish of granola and roasted spices."

"This whisky has a lighter golden color in the glass, showcasing sophisticated legs and thick viscosity. The nose is lightly smoky and somewhat sweet, bringing forth supporting notes of graham cracker, almonds, toffee crunch, and a hint of strawberry bubble gum. This is delicate and slightly smoky, backed by a chewy, sweet note. Goings on here include pear, golden apple, red licorice, smoky syrup, and some backend consideration of dried spice. The finish holds steady here, with some bitterness and a hint of smoke, drying my back palate as it fades." - The Whisky Wash
