About this Winery:
Over the last two decades, McPrice (Mac) Myers has been crafting wines of depth and balance that showcase the multiple terroirs and climates of the Central Coast – from Santa Barbara to Paso Robles. Mac produced his first vintage in 2002 with half a ton of grapes in a small cooperative in Paso Robles. From that humble beginning, Mac has developed a growing portfolio of wines with broad appeal. In 2014, Mac moved the winery to the current site nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Adelaida District. Over the years, McPrice Myers wines have garnered increasing attention from wine lovers and critics alike.

About this wine:

"Sometimes you have to grab the bull by the horns,” is what my father always told me when he smelled a challenge. Today my biggest challenge, and “Bull” so to speak, is Cabernet Sauvignon. I love crafting balanced, textured, decadent Cabernets. But the real challenge is: How do you make great Cabernet for an affordable price? My answer is … Bull by the Horns.

Tasting Notes:

Notes of sugar dusted black currant and cherry, birch beer, espresso, chocolate mint, black licorice, and maple candy. Classic, authentic Cabernet structure, true to varietal, fine tannins that stretch to a long, refined, and graceful finish.

Pair with braised short ribs, lamb burgers, and bacon-wrapped filets.

Varietal Composition: 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec, 6% Merlot, 6% Petite Sirah, 2% Petite Verdot

Ratings & Reviews:

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Deep ruby, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Bull By The Horns has pleasingly herbal touches of bay leaves and dried herbs over a core of blackcurrant, game meat, tar and pencil shavings. The full-bodied palate has abundant, grainy tannins, uplifting, juicy acidity and a long finish with iron and herbal tones. This overdelivers for the price!" Drink 2023-2028. - Erin Brooks (December 2022)

91 Points - Vinous:"A zesty blend of tart raspberry, dusty sage and spiced blood orange wafts up from the 2021 Bull by the Horns. This performs well above its price point, silky and suave with vibrant acidity that energizes its tart black fruits and exotic spice. A cascade of violets and lavender resonate throughout as the 2021 finishes with a classic tug of fine tannins. " Drink 2023-2028. - Eric Guido (March 2023)

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast:"Dried strawberry and cranberry aromas meet with bittersweet cocoa on the intensely dark nose of this bottling. That slightly bitter cocoa note offsets the ripe blackberry flavors, with wild herb and bay leaf adding further nuance." - Matt Kettmann (March 2023)
