About the winery:
The Veglio family has been dedicated to working the land for generations. Since the beginning of the 1900s in the village of Ciotto near La Morra, they have been cultivating vines, orchards & gardens, and raising livestock. Today, the winery produces 100,000 bottles from about 23 hectares of vineyards distributed throughout La Morra and
Monforte d’Alba. The family believes in making balanced wines, respecting the land and its characteristics of origin, with attentive work in the vineyard and just as much care taken in the cellars.
Notes from the Winemaker:
Arborina is a small Geographical Mention of Barolo located in the hamlet of Annunziata, in La Morra. The Barolo that comes here is the most representative of the style and identity of our winery, the maximum expression of the finesse and elegance that we seek in wine. It was the first Barolo produced by our family: Mauro's Barolo.
Our Barolo Arborina stands out for its fruit and freshness, an almost ethereal finesse, extreme elegance and not excessive concentration. All supported by a fine, intense and harmonious bouquet.
Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo
Year of planting: early 70s and 1988
Type of training: guyot
Vinification: maceration with the skins in temperature-controlled steel tanks for 20-25 days, starting with cold maceration (10 °C) in the first 48 hours. During this period, a very soft extraction is carried out, making only a couple of pumping over daily. Then it is racked and malolactic fermentation takes place in steel tanks. Subsequently, around December, the wine is placed in small oak barrels, 30% new and 70% second and third passage, where it remains to age for a total of 24 months. After being decanted in stainless steel, the wine can be bottled without filtration or clarification
Tasting Notes:
Colour: ruby red with good intensity and light garnet notes.
Bouquet: fruity with excellent intensity and delicate harmony. Notes of small red fruits with a prevalence of cassis and blackcurrant. Finish with delicate spiciness.
Taste: delicate, soft, with an excellent balance between alcohol and tannins. Good persistence and minerality with an elegant finish. Complex but extremely delicate, it manifests all the belonging to the territory of La Morra with its freshness and elegance.
Serving temperature: 16°-18°. It is pleasant to appreciate the initial freshness and experience the evolution of the aromas as the wine warms up in the glass.
Evolution: it is marketed with excellent growth potential for many years, but it immediately shows pleasantness and a strong personality.
Ratings & Reviews
94 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2022 Barolo Arborina is laced with vibrant red-toned fruit, orange peel, mint, chalk and white pepper. This brilliant, sculpted Barolo has a lot to offer. I especially admire its energy and the finesse of the tannins, always a challenge for this site. This is a very delicate, elegant wine. (Drink between 2028-2042)" - Antonio Galloni (Jan 2026)
94 Points - James Suckling:
"Orange rind and cloves, with a floral element in the background. Medium- to full-bodied, showing a generous thread of fruit complemented by a touch of cedar. The tannins are chalky yet unobtrusive, and the finish is poised and elegant. Drink or hold."

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"From this beautiful site in La Morra with its prized southeast exposure to the morning light, the Mauro Veglio 2022 Barolo Arborina shows a sweet side with raspberry and pomegranate that cedes to spice, mint and wild rose. The floral definition is especially pronounced, with wild violet and earthy iris root adding nuance and lift. You could call this a more botanical expression of Nebbiolo, although there is a subtle mineral note that gives the wine extra focus. Sourced from 40-year-old vines in the oldest section of Arborina and aged for 24 months in barrique, 25% of which is new oak, this wine balances aromatic precision with elegant textural richness."
