Notes from the Winemaker:
Radici Taurasi is Mastroberardino's flagship wine. Although first released in 1928, the wine became known as, Radici, which translates as 'roots' in 1986. This classic red is the result of painstaking research into exposure, chemical and physical characteristics of this region’s unique volcanic terroir and topography. Made from 100% Aglianico, and sourced from the Mirabella Eclano vineyard where vine age averages 30 years, Radici Taurasi is one of the most superb expressions of this ancient terroir.

Tasting Notes:
This ruby-red wine has a full, complex spectrum of aromas, particularly of violet and blackberries. On the palate, it is full-bodied and mouth-filling, with persistent and elegant notes of plum, bitter cherry, strawberry jam and black pepper.

Food Pairing:
Radici Taurasi pairs flawlessly with roasted meats, larger game, spicy Middle Eastern dishes, truffles and aged, flavorful cheeses.

About the Vineyard:

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A lovely, layered red, offering baked strawberry and cherry fruit accented by graphite, chartreuse liqueur, leather and citrus peel aromas. Vibrant and minerally, with creamy tannins and a subtle streak of tarry smoke echoing on the finish. Tasted non-blind. Drink now through 2028." – AN (Web Only - 2018)

93 Points - James Suckling:
"A beautiful old Taurasi with loads of ripe and warm fruit character with dried red peppers, blackpepper, and more spices. Full body, round tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Decadent wine. An old release from the cellars of the family. Drink now." - (December 28, 2013)

91 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Like the 1999, the estate's 1998 Taurasi Radici Riserva is a straightforward offering. The French oak seems to come through a touch more than in other surrounding vintages, suggesting 1998 yielded fruit with less structure and depth to play off the oak. Despite the wine's freshness, early signs of oxidation have begun to creep in. The supple, forward 1998 is an excellent choice for near-term drinking." - Antonio Galloni (Aug 2010)
