About the Winery:
Founded by Enrique Forner in 1970, Marques de Caceres introduced ground-breaking winemaking techniques from Bordeaux to Rioja for the first time, elevating the standard of quality in the region and ushering in the Rioja Rennaissance that followed. They work with one single objective: producing the highest quality wines. Today this obsession continues to be the leitmotif of Cristina Forner, the fifth generation of this distinguished wine family.
About this Wine:
Brilliant, deep ruby color. A very profound nose, powerful yet harmonious. It expresses a range of elegantly complex nuances, revealing a base of fine, spiced wood with notes of vanilla and cocoa. Black fruit, sweet licorice, and a hint of undergrowth are also integrated.
A good attack on the palate, its volume and elegance are noticeable, evolving throughout the tasting with a rich aftertaste full of nuances and sensations. A wine with great character.
Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, divided equally between new barrels and barrels of one and two years, with racking every 5 months. This is followed by further aging for 2 years in bottle before release.
Ratings & Reviews
92 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Fresh and lifted, with an alluring balance of fruit appeal and smoky wood structure. The tannins give mineral freshness, as well as structure. Plum and cherry at the core, cloaked in thyme, oregano and mocha." - Ines Salpico (Mar 2025)
92 Points - Tim Atkin MW:
"Made to a consistently high standard, this youthful, well-structured Reserva is an assemblage of Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo. Matured in 33% new French oak, it has impressive structure, an earthy undertone, firm tannins, bright acidity and a core of blackberry and espresso coffee. 2027-35" (Mar 2025)
