About the Winery:
Founded by Enrique Forner in 1970, Marques de Caceres introduced ground-breaking winemaking techniques from Bordeaux to Rioja for the first time, elevating the standard of quality in the region and ushering in the Rioja Rennaissance that followed. They work with one single objective: producing the highest quality wines. Today this obsession continues to be the leitmotif of Cristina Forner, the fifth generation of this distinguished wine family.
About this Wine:
Deep color with subtle brick-red highlights. A pleasant nose with soft notes imbued with the complexity of meticulous aging. Its years of use leave vivid memories of stewed black fruit and fine, delicate oak. The wine gains complexity as it breathes, revealing a spicy background and creamy notes in a harmonious blend. It maintains power and vigor on the palate.
Its tannins are consistent and well-tamed by time and the meticulous work of its long production and aging. This Gran Reserva is all in perfect harmony: a long and complex finish, luscious ripe fruit, and fine oak. It undoubtedly expresses a mature vitality with character.
Aged for 24 to 26 months, depending on the vineyard origin and the batch of barrels. New and second-use French oak barrels. This is followed by further aging for 4 years in bottle before release.
Ratings & Reviews
95 Points - Owen Bargreen:
"The dazzling 2019 Marques de Caceres ‘Gran Reserva Vendima Seleccionada’ Rioja is a concentrated and powerful wine from this warm vintage. Once on the nose this takes on roasted figs alongside molten chocolate, anise and cedar notes. The palate is viscous and fresh with terrific tension and salty minerality. A totally gorgeous bottling, enjoy now and over the next twenty years to come." (Feb 2026)
