About the Winery:
Founded by Enrique Forner in 1970, Marques de Caceres introduced ground-breaking winemaking techniques from Bordeaux to Rioja for the first time, elevating the standard of quality in the region and ushering in the Rioja Rennaissance that followed. They work with one single objective: producing the highest quality wines. Today this obsession continues to be the leitmotif of Cristina Forner, the fifth generation of this distinguished wine family.
About this Wine:
Ruby red with a medium-intensity rim and body. The nose is fresh, alternating balsamic notes with black fruit. Its spicy background reveals delicate oak and subtle hints of licorice, which blend into a pleasant complexity on the palate. The palate offers a beautiful volume, unfolding with velvety tannins throughout the tasting. The finish is flavorful, refreshed by tinged and balsamic notes on the retronasal passage.
It is a very well-rounded wine, full of nuances, pleasant, and very versatile for brightening and sharing good moments.
Aged for 12 months in French (60%) and American (40%) oak barrels. The barrels are distributed as follows: 25% new oak, 25% previously used for two wines, and the other 50% where three to four wines at most have been aged. This is followed by further aging for 1 year in bottle before release.
Ratings & Reviews
90 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Oregano and tobacco front the nose with savoury expressiveness, led by blood orange, Earl Grey and bergamot. There's firm, herbal grip from strong, round tannins. Subtle florality adds elegant top notes to the otherwise intense, dark core. A great-value wine, perfect for more than everyday drinking." - Ines Salpico (Mar 2025)
