100% Barbera from Malvirà’s San Michele vineyard where soils are dominated by calcareous clay. Up to and including the 2007 vintage, these wines were made from 90 year old vines before the vineyard was replanted in 2008. During fermentation, in stainless steel, the grapes were macerated on their skins for six weeks. The wine was then moved to 450L French oak casks (only 10% new) for 36 months
Ratings & Reviews
"The estate's 2004 Barbera d'Alba San Michele offers an inviting core of ripe dark fruit, sweet spices, minerals and toasted oak. Medium in body, the wine shows excellent density, with a warm, resonating finish. " Antonio Galloni - (Oct 2008)
