About the Whiskey:
The Maker's Wood Finishing Series was inspired by the success of Maker’s Mark 46 - which takes the classic, and classically consistent bourbon, and ages it with 10 French oak staves added directly into the barrel.

For the Wood Finishing Series, Maker's creates limited releases, incorporating new and unique staves, and bottling un-chill filtered at cask strength. The Maker's wheated mash bill of 70% Corn, 16% Wheat, and 14% Malted Barley remains the same.

Crafted to amplify the balanced wood sugars, softer tannins and lasting finish achieved with our low 110 BEP. Special finishing staves were used to amplify notes of vanilla and sweet spice.

For bourbon, this process delivers more flavor, smoothness, even color. The extra water helps improve the congener concentration, which imparts flavors of caramel, vanilla and baking spice. These decrease as BEPs increase.

The Keepers Release celebrates those who craft our handmade bourbon at Star Hill Farm. It is inspired by the people who oversee the maturation of our whisky, the true "Keepers" of Maker's Mark.

This bold expression features hints of seasoned oak and brûlée sugar, offering a long and enveloping mouthfeel with notes of dried fruit and roasted sweetness.

Awards/Reviews

Grade: A (Drinkhacker)
"This is a real beauty from the start: The nose is clean but wood-forward, reminiscent of eucalyptus wood in addition to the usual gently charred oak. A whiff of licorice is detectable along with a touch of raisiny prune. The palate is a showcase for what the aromatics hint at: A bright punch of rum raisin kicks things off, followed by lively notes of orange peel, Maraska cherry, and silky vanilla-laced caramel. Lively with sweetness and fruit — one of the most effusive Maker’s Mark expressions I can remember tasting in recent years. Some milk chocolate notes and a hint of mint soften up the finish and evoke a dessert-like quality. All-in-all a delightful whiskey from start to finish. Both criminally affordable and criminally delicious. Don’t sleep on this one."
