About the Whiskey:
The Maker's Wood Finishing Series was inspired by the success of Maker’s Mark 46 - which takes the classic, and classically consistent bourbon, and ages it with 10 French oak staves added directly into the barrel.

For the Wood Finishing Series, Maker's creates limited releases, incorporating new and unique staves, and bottling un-chill filtered at cask strength. The Maker's wheated mash bill of 70% Corn, 16% Wheat, and 14% Malted Barley remains the same.

Crafted to amplify the balanced wood sugars, softer tannins and lasting finish achieved with our low 110 BEP. Special finishing staves were used to amplify notes of vanilla and sweet spice.

This limited-release bourbon showcases the influence of Maker’s® unique, 110 barrel entry proof (also known as BEP)

For bourbon, this process delivers more flavor, smoothness, even color. The extra water helps improve the congener concentration, which imparts flavors of caramel, vanilla and baking spice. These decrease as BEPs increase.

Tasting Notes:

AROMA: Toasty vanilla, subtle spice, caramel

TASTE: Bright, vanilla, brown sugar

FINISH: Medium body, balanced, rich caramel, dry baking spices

Awards/Reviews:

"Bold flavors of brown sugar, rich toasted oak, and brown butter pop and are immediately entwined with undeniable spicy cinnamon, dry aged oak, and baking spice notes. This is a delicious palate that most people imagine when they think of a well-developed classic Kentucky bourbon. Full of rich flavors, BEP completes the Wood Finishing Series in the same way it started, with a pour that stands out and a price tag that’s still reasonable compared to other limited releases in the market. It delivers a classic sip that is well-rounded and full of rich flavors. If you’re a fan of Maker’s Mark, BEP is a no-brainer bottle to try." - Breaking Bourbon

"I ultimately feel that if you like Maker’s Mark — which is certainly easy to do — you’ll probably like this even more. The nose is clearly denser and woodier than rack Maker’s Mark, richer with caramel and chocolate notes, heavy with vanilla, all laced elegantly with wood. There’s just “more” here all around: The palate has more body (courtesy of a higher abv), more sweetness, more spice… more everything. Citrus notes pop toward the finish, where a touch of mint plays nicely with elements of peanut brittle. All told, it drinks like a very rich, well-made bourbon, though that classic Maker’s “softness” is never far out of mind. This is a real beauty that demands attention." - Drinkhacker (Grade: A-)
