About the Winery:
The name Chapoutier occupies a storied place in the history of the Rhône Valley, beginning 1808, when the family first settled in the Rhône Valley. Throughout the 19th century and well into the next, M. CHAPOUTIER and its eponymous winery grew steadily, producing wine from esteemed vineyard sites such as Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. However, 1990 was a watershed moment for the winery, with the arrival of Michel Chapoutier. Under his leadership, the maverick winemaker established bold initiatives. For example, the introduction of Single Vineyard Selection that express the unique terroir of a site, or wine labels embossed in braille for the visually impaired. In each instance, Michel’s decisions were, and continue to be, driven by a deep respect for the soil, climate, and his fellow human beings.

Ratings & Reviews:

92 Points - James Suckling:
"A well-balanced, peppery and chalky wine with aromas of dark berries, meat and fresh black pepper. It’s medium-bodied with chalky tannins. Inky and delicious, with a flavorful, tactile finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold." (Apr 2025)

92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Round and mouth filling yet not heavy, this offers a mix of meaty notes and red fruit flanked by dusty red earth and bacon lard. The tannins are finely polished, for a ripe, chewy profile, with a subtle tug of tar, which adds to the brooding density. Very solid. Drink now through 2033." - Kristen Bieler (Dec 2025)

92 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Fans of Rhône Syrah will no doubt be familiar with this textbook red. Mixed vintage conditions have given this expression a light touch with more elegance than recent years, it showcases classic notes of lifted violet and dried herbs opening into spiced dark plum and grilled meat flavours, all tied together with the silkiest tannins." - Helena Nicklin (Sep 2025)
