Ratings & Reviews
"The 2018 Barolo Bussia captures all of the aromatic intensity and nuance that is so typical of the best wines from Monforte's Bussia district. Strong spice and floral notes lead into dark fruit laced with super-expressive balsamic overtones. Rose petal, mint, blood orange and cinnamon linger on the exquisite finish." - Antonio Galloni (Feb 2022)
"Bright berries and a hint of pomegranate, together with damp chalk and some fern. Medium-bodied with a tight, focused palate and firm, light-grained tannins. Quite a racy feel to this now. Should broaden out with another couple of years in bottle. Try from 2024." (Jan 2022)
"An elegant style, yet well-structured too, offering abundant support for strawberry, cherry and rose flavors. Balanced overall, with freshness and definition on the lingering, mineral-infused finish. Best from 2025 through 2040." - Bruce Sanderson (Jan 2023)
"The Einaudi estate is an incredibly charming winery based in Dogliani. Their winemaking is pretty classic, with fermentation in concrete as well as in stainless steel tanks, then long ageing in large oak vessels after 20-25 days of maceration on the skins. Bright garnet in the glass, it's funky at first with a sort of straw and farmyard character giving austere complexity; thereafter the grace of wild strawberry and cinnamon. Angular, firm and refreshing, the palate is more extracted than supple in a perfect stern Bussia style, with an austere finish displaying a great savoury flavour. It's not without balance for the long haul." - Aldo Fiordelli (Jan 2022)
