About the Winery
Domaine Louis Moreau is a 50-hectare estate based in the commune of Beines in the heart of the Chablis appellation. Louis and his wife Anne founded the domaine in 1994 with half the family vineyards once leased to the négociant firm J. Moreau & Fils. Louis Moreau owns parcels in four of Chablis’ seven grand cru climats including the grand cru Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos, three premier crus, and several plots in the Chablis and Petit Chablis appellations. Louis seeks clarity of site in each of his wines and all his decisions in the vineyard and cellar are meant to bring out the personality of each terroir.

About the Vineyard

Grand Cru Les Clos is the most renowned of the 7 Chablis Grands Crus. It produces straight but yet generous and powerful wines.

Grand Cru Les Clos parcel is handpicked, like all our 1ers Crus and Grands Crus and handsorted before being pressed. We generally start picking in Grands Crus parcels first be cause the grapes ripen earlier thanks to their ideal exposure. We vinified Grand Cru Les Clos in stainless steel tanks for both al coholic fermentation, activated with indigenous yeasts for 18 to 25 days at low temperature (18°C) and malolactic fermentation, thanks to natural bacteria at 20°C for a few months. Aging Methods: Since vintage 2013, our Grand Cru Les Clos will age only in tank, on fine lees, with minimum intervention, to let it express all its minerality and purity. Then the cuvee will go through a light filtration and bottling. Generally, the bottling takes place 18-20 months after harvest.

Tasting Notes:

Its bouquet is mineral, which gives to the wine lot of elegance while the mouth expresses delicate notes of almond and pear. The finish is full and long-lasting.

This Grand Cru will nicely match with monkfish roast with nuts and smoked bacon.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2020 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a crisp bouquet with crushed rock mixed with touches of dried flowers and a light sea spray note - classic Chablis really. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry. Touches of dried honey and chamomile, but underneath it all is a fine mineral spice and a decent, quite Les Preuses-like finish. Fine." - Neal Martin (Sep 2022)
